So last night I was REALLY sore from trying out the Nintendo Wii Fit (highly recommend as its fun and very challenging). Anyway, I was lying in bed, watching tv, and noticed that my digital signal was awful. Now, we have Time Warner Cable and from past experience I know that regardless of the problem, customer service is going to have you unplg and reset the box, wait for the time to come back, etc etc.
The idea of getting out of bed was haunting me. But I decided to call anyway to inquire whether there was anything that the customer support could do on their end to help fix my problem. The customer support rep was FANTASTIC and totally understood my reluctance to move. The rep placed me on hold for a few moments and returned to tell me of a way to solve my problem AND reset the box. Apparently, the digital cable boxes can be completely reset using the remote... who knew.
There is a key sequence that is used to accomplish this:
1. Power off the cable box using the remote.
2. Power off the TV.
3. Press and hold the "Pause" button until a green box appears next to the time on the front of the cable box.
4. Press the "Page Down" button once. (My remote actually had a minus sign (-) on it)
5. Press "Stop" three times.
6. Wait just a couple seconds.
That's it. Worked like a charm. The box actually reset itself with me having to get out of bed. God bless that Customer Support Rep.
